Building the Shin Musha Gundam (Master Grade) – Part 8 – Waist

The waist is the next piece to assemble and this will join the upper body with the legs once complete.

To start, we first determine which runners we’re going to need:

The runners are laid out ready:

The first part of the waist build is the hip joint so the instructions are consulted:

Then the parts are cut out of their runners and laid out:

They are then assembled ready to move onto the next phase of the build:

The two armoured panels on the front of the waist are next starting with the right-hand one. These panels are made up of four linked plates getting narrower as they go up.

The first plate is the bottom one so we consult the guide first:

Then we cut the parts out of their runners and lay them out:

Then we build:

The second plate is next so we consult the guide:

The parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Then the second plate is assembled:

The third plate is next so we consult the guide:

The parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Then the third plate is assembled:

The top and final plate is next so we consult the guide:

The parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Then the top plate is assembled:

The left side is then assembled – this is a mirror image of the right side so isn’t documented here.

Next is the front armour which serves to also keep the two front armour pieces in place.

The lower part of the front armour is next so the guide is consulted:

The front part of the waist is now ready to be assembled so we consult the guide first:

The pieces are all gathered and laid out ready:

The back part of the waist is next so we consult the guide – there are two front plates left and right:

The left-hand plate is first so the parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Then they are assembled:

The right-hand side is a mirror image so this is not documented.

There is then a back plate to hold everything together so the guide is consulted:

The additional parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

The final part of the waist build are two flanking pieces. The guide is consulted first:

There are two of these to assemble.

The waist is now complete so we can attach the legs:
