Building the Shin Musha Gundam (Master Grade) – Part 7 – Legs

Image about Gunpla

The leg assembly for the Shin Musha Gundam is very complicated and will require more explanation than the other stages thus far.

The first part of the leg is the skeleton – the inner structure.

First things first, we need to identify which parts we need:

This is actually a single part so we cut it out of it’s runner and lay it out ready:

The diagram suggests we need to remove some of the pieces:

These pieces are carefully removed:

After removing the pieces, we now need to rotate the sliders which will ensure the articulation is smooth and confined to the natural movement of the joints:

This step is now performed:

There is now a screw and nut to be inserted to ensure the structure of the leg remains solid:

The parts are laid out ready for assembly:

The skeleton is now assembled:

The two lower sliders are telescopic. The one on the right is attached, the one on the left is then extended and attached also to the claw hook that is just above it.

The first of the many layers are now applied so first, we consult the instructions:

The parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

They are then assembled:

Now there is another layer to be added so the instructions are consulted:

The parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

They are then assembled:

The next layer also includes the attachment of the foot – first, the guide is consulted:

The additional parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Then they are assembled:

The next layer is now ready to be added so we consult the instructions:

The parts needed are then cut out of their runners and laid out:

The layer is then added:

The next layer is now added – first, the instructions are consulted:

This actually forms part of another layer but needs to be built first – the parts are cut out from their runners and laid out:

This can now be assembled ready to be included in the next layer:

The instructions for the next layer are now consulted:

The parts needed are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Once assembled, we can move onto the next layer:

Now the next layer is added – again, consultation of the guide first:

The parts are cut out from their runners and laid out ready:

The layer is now assembled:

Again we consult the guide for the next stage of the build:

The parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

The layer is now assembled:

The guide is consulted once more for the next layer:

The parts needed are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

The layer is then assembled:

Following this, the guide is consulted for the next stage:

The parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Then the layer is assembled ready for the next one:

The guide is consulted once more for the next step:

The parts needed are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Then we can assemble the layer:

The next stage is then looked up in the instructions:

The parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Then they are assembled:

The final stage of the leg is now upon us and the guide is consulted:

The parts are cut out of their runners and laid out ready:

Then they are assembled:

The left leg is a mirror image of the right leg so this is not covered in this guide.

The next piece of the Shin Musha Gundam to be built will be the waist.
